Draft from the legal pack, for solicitor review before launch.
These terms say what MyBillChecker does, what it does not do, and how we are paid. By ticking the box and using MyBillChecker you agree to them.
1. Who we are
MyBillChecker is a trading name of Penn Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, number [15983329, confirm]. Registered office: Unit C, Blackett Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom, M12 6AE. Contact: [email address].
2. What MyBillChecker does
You give us a bill, invoice or penalty notice. Software reads the figures, and we then check the arithmetic, tax, days billed, repeated charges and fees. We show you anything that does not add up and, if you ask, cheaper options.
The bill check is free. At launch we check gas, electricity, mobile, broadband, landline and TV bills, including bundles. For other bills you can join a waitlist.
3. Using MyBillChecker
- You must be 18 or over.
- Upload only bills that are yours, or that you are allowed to share.
- Check the figures we read before you rely on the result. You can correct anything we misread.
- Do not misuse the service, try to break it, or use it to collect other people's data.
4. Information, not advice
What we show is information. "Worth querying" means a figure does not match; it does not prove your provider is wrong. We are not a lawyer, financial adviser or energy broker, and nothing here is legal or financial advice.
For fines and penalty notices we check the sums and dates only. We do not say whether a fine is valid.
We work to read bills accurately, but we cannot promise that every figure is read or checked correctly, or that you will save money. Any saving we show is an estimate for you, based on the figures you confirmed.
5. How we are paid
MyBillChecker is free to you. When you click through to a provider and buy, the provider or an affiliate network may pay us a commission. It does not cost you extra.
The bill check applies the same rules whichever provider you use, and commission never changes what we flag as wrong on your bill. We show deals from the providers we have arrangements with, not the whole market, so a better deal may exist elsewhere. Where we list options in an order, the page says how. Where a link earns us commission, we say so before you click.
6. Your data
How we use your bill and details is explained in our Privacy Notice. We delete uploaded bill images automatically, as set out there. We only pass your details to a provider if you tick a separate box naming that provider.
7. Other websites
When you click through to a provider, your purchase is a contract between you and that provider. Their terms apply, and we are not responsible for their service, prices or deals, which can change.
8. Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.
Subject to that, we are not responsible for loss that was not a foreseeable result of our failing, or for business losses such as lost profit. Our total liability for any claim connected with the service is limited to [amount, solicitor to set].
9. Changes and ending
We may change the service or these terms. If a change matters to you, we will tell you on the site. You can stop using MyBillChecker at any time and ask us to delete your data.
10. Complaints and law
Tell us about a problem at [email address] and we will reply within [number] working days. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also use your local courts.
